Four Decades of Asking the Right Questions First

Every recommendation I make starts the same way — with questions. About your health, your family, your coverage history, your goals. Not because it's a process I follow, but because it's the only way to give advice that actually fits your life.

That's been my approach since 1985, when I started in this industry, and it hasn't changed.

Independent From Day One — and Still That Way

A lot of my clients come to me after a frustrating experience somewhere else — a policy that didn't perform the way they were told it would, a complicated medical history that other brokers wouldn't touch, a legacy policy nobody could explain. That's where I tend to do some of my most useful work.

Placing coverage for clients with complex health histories takes underwriting knowledge, carrier relationships, and patience. Reviewing an in-force policy that's been sitting in a drawer for twenty years takes a different kind of experience. I've done both — many times — and I genuinely enjoy the cases that require more thought.

What "Let Max Help You" Actually Means

Max is the name behind Max Broker Services LLC, and the tagline — "Let Max Help You" — has been part of this practice for more than twenty years. It's not a slogan. It's a commitment to the way I work.

It means I'm not here to close a transaction. I'm here to help you understand your options, review what you already have, and make a decision that holds up over time. Whether you're buying your first term policy or untangling a whole life contract from the 1990s, the goal is the same: leave the conversation knowing more than when you walked in.

I'm based in Somers, New York, in northern Westchester County — not far from the landmark Elephant Hotel that's been a fixture of this community since the 1800s. I've built my practice here, and most of my individual clients are people I could run into at the grocery store or the farmers market. That kind of proximity creates accountability that a call center never can.

I'm licensed in fourteen states, including New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, so geography isn't a barrier. But my roots are here, and the way I work reflects that — personal, direct, and unhurried.

Frequently Asked Questions About Richard Sweig and Max Broker Services

  • How long has Max Broker Services been in business?

Richard Sweig has been in the insurance industry since 1985 — more than forty years. Max Broker Services LLC is the independent brokerage through which he operates, serving individual clients and referring brokers across the tri-state area and fourteen licensed states.

  • Who is Richard Sweig, and what kind of insurance does he handle?

Richard is an independent insurance broker based in Somers, NY, specializing in life insurance, annuities, disability insurance, long-term care planning, and business continuation strategies. He works with individual consumers, families, and small business owners, as well as P&C agents and financial advisors who need a life and annuity resource for their clients.

  • What does it mean to work with an independent broker instead of a captive agent?

A captive agent represents one company and can only offer that company's products. As an independent broker, Richard represents you — not any single carrier. He shops across most major carriers to find the coverage that fits your health profile, budget, and goals, and he has the flexibility to place cases that a single-carrier agent cannot.

  • Does Richard personally handle every client, or will I be handed off to someone else?

Every client works directly with Richard from the first conversation through placement. There are no handoffs, no junior associates, and no call centers. If you call or email, you reach Richard.

  • Can Richard help if I have a complicated medical history or an old policy I don't understand?

Yes — and these are often the cases Richard finds most valuable to work on. He has decades of experience placing coverage for clients with complex health histories and reviewing legacy or underperforming policies. If you've been told your situation is too complicated, it's worth a conversation.

  • How do I get started?

Call or text me directly, or use the contact form and I'll reach back out the same day. There's no obligation — just a conversation about what you have, what you need, and whether I can help.

What to Expect When You Reach Out

When you contact me, you reach me — not a call center, not an assistant, not an automated intake form. We'll talk through your situation, I'll ask the questions that actually matter, and I'll tell you what I think makes sense before I ever suggest a product.

If I can help you, I'll tell you how. If what you have already is working, I'll tell you that too.
